In the next few months, I'm planning to drop $1000-$1500 on a new desktop build.  It's going to be primarily for gaming, and I may move my Android development to it as well.

What I have that I can still use:
Keyboard
Mouse
Monitor
750GB SATA2
250GB SATA2

What I need:
Everything else

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  I've been so out of the loop for so long on CPU and graphics that I really don't even have a good starting point.  CPU models in particular seem much harder to decipher than they were 6 years ago.

My HTC Rezound ROMS:
CounterShrike (Heavily modified CM9 - Aroma Installer) - PAC-Man (CM10/AOKP/Paranoid Android hybrid - Coming Soon)

All of my work is open source: My Github

Donations are never expected, but always appreciated.

Any FX (Bulldozer) series AMD CPU will do. You will see a great increase in performance.
This is a hot 6 core CPU, perfect for you. >>> http://www.tigerdire...9961&CatId=7341
There's a newer version now called the FX-6300. Still six core but OC'd to an increased 0.20GHz which isn't much, but it has more features.
I currently have the FX-8150 and it's an over all great CPU for apps that like hyperthreading to 8 cores. (4 core, 4 logical)

So in all this looks like a nice build for you...

Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 -- AMD 970   -   $120 - http://www.tigerdire...sp?EdpNo=849160
CPU : AMD FX-6300 CPU (6x 3.50GHz/6MB L2 Cache)   -   $130 - http://www.tigerdire...4562&CatId=7339
GPU : EVGA GeForce GTX 660 02G-P4-2662-KR Video Card - 2GB  -  $250  -  http://www.tigerdire...1133&CatId=7387
RAM : 8Gb [2 GB X4] Kingston HyperX   -   $15x3 = $45  -  http://www.tigerdire...5011&CatId=4534

Blah blah... or you could just go to www.ibuypower.com and customize a PC there. I did. :)
